A caravan door is nothing like a house door
It is 58 cm wide and 178 cm tall, with a two centimetre aluminium frame and a factory fly screen that gave up in its second summer. The sliding door on a converted Ducato is 125 by 175, with a steel sill and a runner nothing must drag in. And the patio doors on a static caravan look just like the ones on a house, except the frame is hot to the touch by ten in the morning.
So we make to your measurements, never to a format. You give us the width and height of the opening, we cut and sew the mesh to exactly that. It fixes with a self-adhesive hook-and-loop tape around the frame: it grips the painted steel of a van as well as the aluminium of a tourer, and it peels off without a trace when you sell the vehicle on.
Where it goes, and which model
Campervan and motorhome
The sliding side door, the one you leave open in the evening. The tape sticks around the steel frame, the screen drops to the sill and parts in the middle to walk through. The door screen made to measure, at your van's real height, usually 175 to 190 cm.
Touring caravan
A narrow door, 55 to 70 cm, in a thin aluminium frame. The tape goes on the outer frame or in the reveal, and the screen replaces the factory one that has torn or jammed in its runner. The same door screen, to your caravan's measurements, plus the top-hung windows with the window screen.
Static caravan and holiday lodge
Near-standard patio doors or a sliding door in an aluminium or uPVC frame. The tape holds on hot aluminium as long as you degreased it first. Up to 200 cm, the door screen; beyond that, the large opening screen with its weighted bars, because a static on a coastal park catches the wind.
The four mistakes we keep seeing
Ordering 210 cm tall "because that is what a door is". A van is 175, the mesh drags on the floor and gets filthy. Measuring the door instead of the frame. Sticking the tape onto dusty steel on a windy day. And driving off with the screen still on, which it does not take kindly to and which we never recommend.
- Measure the opening, not the door: outer edge of the frame to outer edge, width then height, twice.
- Degrease the steel before sticking, let it dry, press hard. The tape does the rest, even in full sun.
- Take it off to drive: hook off loop, it comes away in one movement and folds into a bag.

Your questions before you set off
Can I drive with the screen on?
No, and it is not made for it. It comes off in thirty seconds, hook off loop, and folds into a bag. The adhesive tape stays on the frame for the next stop. Shutting the door on the mesh and driving off is the surest way to tear it.
Does the tape hold on a van's steel in full sun?
Yes, provided you prepare the surface: a wipe of degreaser or alcohol around the opening, let it dry, stick, press firmly. The adhesive cures in a few hours and then holds on hot steel. What makes it let go is dust under the tape, not the heat.
My caravan door is 58 × 178 cm. Is that possible?
Yes, it is a size we make often. You choose the door screen made to measure and enter 58 and 178, or the outer frame measurements if you fit on the frame, with 4 cm on the width and 2 cm on the height for the tape. The size guide shows the right reference point for each fitting.
I rent a static caravan on a holiday park all year. Am I allowed?
Nothing is drilled or altered, and the tape peels off without a trace: you are in the same position as a tenant in a flat. Most parks simply ask that nothing be fixed permanently to the structure, and that is exactly what the screen does.
The sliding door on my static is 240 cm wide. Which model?
The large opening screen. Beyond 200 cm the door screen becomes one big light panel that flaps in the wind, and a static on a coastal park gets plenty of that. The weighted bars in the hem and the longer magnets of the large opening screen close firmly, with one or two splits so you walk through where you like.
What about the awning?
The screen fits on the door frame, not on the awning. So it stays in place whether the awning is out or rolled up. If your awning has a fabric panel against the door, just check the tape on the frame does not get in the way of its channel.
How long does it take if I leave in three weeks?
Allow 6 to 9 working days to make it, then delivery. Three weeks is comfortable. One week is tight. Standard sizes of the door screen, up to 120 cm, leave within 24 to 48 hours if a standard size suits you.
