✏️ Panel customisation (arched-top magnetic model) — click here
This arched-top magnetic model has a central separation by default (2 panels), with the width evenly distributed.
Example: 300 cm with central separation (2 panels) → 150 / 150 cm
✅ Want unequal panels (e.g. 120 / 180 cm)? That’s possible.
✅ Want more separations (more panels)? Also possible — just provide the width of each panel.
Add your dimensions in order (left to right) in the order note on the cart page, or contact customer service after ordering.
⚠️ Safety measure: if you request unequal panels, we apply Velcro on both sides to prevent any mistake (ours or the customer’s).

How to measure?

Tape measure icon How to measure correctly? (Arched model)

A: Measuring on the opening frame?
➜ Add +4 cm in width and +2 cm in height (the velcro strips are 2 cm wide on the sides and 4 cm on the height).

B: Measuring on the final mounting frame (outside / inside)?
Add nothing, measure right down to the floor.

Information icon Specific to the arched model: 3 required dimensions

For the arched model we need:

  • Width : inner width of the opening, taken at the bottom of the frame.
  • Height H1 : total height up to the highest point of the arch.
  • Height H2 : straight height up to the start of the arch.

Folding icon

Worried it might be too long?
➜ You can slightly fold up the bottom of the fly screen without hindering use.

Tip icon

Tip: round your measurements up to the nearest centimetre
➜ Better a bit too big than too tight 😉

How to install?

Installation in 5 steps

1

Carefully clean the frame (including the curved top part) with a damp wipe, then leave to dry for 1 minute.

2

Start with the top part: apply the velcro following the curve. To match the shape, cut several small pieces rather than a single strip.

3

Continue along the two sides (without the bottom). Peel off the adhesive backing as you go, then apply the velcro all around the frame.

4

Press firmly on each piece of velcro for optimal adhesion. If needed, add more double-sided tape or use nails depending on your frame type.

5

Attach the fly screen velcro to velcro starting from the top (curve), then align the sides. Check the positioning and adjust if needed.

🔹 Note: Since the velcro is not curved, simply cut several pieces to easily follow the arched shape. The magnets are already built in and hidden in the central row.

Frequently asked questions.

square_foot

How do I measure my door / window / patio door?

Before you start, make sure to take accurate measurements. Two methods are available to select the correct size (your choice). Details are explained below for each model.

DOOR MODEL
Measure on the installation area Recommended

Measure directly the final surface where the fly screen will be installed (outer frame / installation area). You will obtain a Width × Height size ready to select.

Measure from the inner frame

Measure the inner door frame, then add:

  • +4 cm to the width (2 cm on each side)
  • +2 cm to the height

Example: 96 × 208 cm → final size: 100 × 210 cm

Size selection
  • If the result matches a standard size, select the corresponding model.
  • Otherwise, choose a Custom size category
Custom size category
  • Custom M: width ≤ 150 cm and height ≤ 230 cm
  • Custom L: width ≤ 200 cm and height ≤ 260 cm
  • Custom XL: width > 200 cm or height > 260 cm
⚠️ If your opening exceeds 300 cm in width or if you want a fly screen with multiple panels, we recommend choosing the Large Size model.
WINDOW MODEL
Measure on the installation area Recommended

Measure directly the final surface where the fly screen will be installed (outer frame / installation area). You will obtain a Width × Height dimension.

Measure from the inner frame
  • +4 cm to the width (2 cm on each side)
  • +4 cm to the height (2 cm top and 2 cm bottom)
Custom size category
  • Custom M: width and height < 100 cm
  • Custom L: width and height ≤ 200 cm
  • Custom XL: width or height > 200 cm
LARGE SIZE MODEL

architecture

Which fly screen for an arched door or window?

A fly screen cut to the exact shape of the opening. Standard rectangular models leave a gap at the top of the arch that mosquitoes fly straight through. Our mesh is laser cut from your three measurements, then fitted with a magnetic closure: it follows a full arch, a segmental arch or a half-moon without creases or gaps.

category

Which opening shapes are possible?

Full arch, segmental arch, basket-handle arch, half-moon above a door, asymmetric heights: the arched model covers the vast majority of rounded openings. For a bullseye window, a separate transom or a truly unusual shape, write to us with a photo and the workshop will confirm feasibility before you order.

straighten

How do I measure an arched opening?

Three dimensions are enough: the width, the height at the highest point of the arch and the height at the side. The workshop rebuilds the curve from these measurements. The step by step method, with diagrams, is in our measuring guide.

handyman

Can it be fitted without drilling, even on a curved frame?

Yes. Fixing uses a self-adhesive hook-and-loop strip that follows the curve of the frame, on uPVC, aluminium or timber. No holes, no screws: the fly screen comes down at the end of the season and goes back up in spring, which also makes it suitable for rentals.

autorenew

Does the magnetic closure work on a curved shape?

Yes, that is exactly the point of the system: magnets are spaced every 15 cm over the full height, they follow the curve and snap the mesh shut automatically after each pass, including on the arched part.

compare_arrows

How is it different from the classic large-opening fly screen?

The base is the same: reinforced fibreglass mesh, long magnets, no-drill fitting. The arched version adds the cut to shape. If your opening is rectangular, even a very wide one, the large-opening fly screen is the right choice; for any particular size, use the made-to-measure configurator.

What guarantees do you offer?

We offer a 30-day 0-bite or 100% refund guarantee.

Magnetic Fly Screen for Arched Windows and Doors

An arched opening is the one shape no standard fly screen covers. Kits are cut square, rigid frames cannot follow a curve, and the sliding panel that came with the rest of the house was never made for the feature window above the stairs. That is why arched windows are so often the only unscreened opening left in an otherwise well protected home, and it is the whole reason this product exists.

    Where arched openings turn up

Almost always somewhere that matters. The fanlight over a front door, the feature window in a gable, the tall round headed windows of a converted chapel or mill, arched French doors onto a terrace, and the glazed end of an orangery or garden room. In older housing they are usually original joinery that nobody wants to alter, and in newer builds they are the architectural feature the house was designed around. Neither is a good candidate for drilling a frame into.

How a Made to Measure Arched Screen Works

The panel is cut to the curve you measured rather than to a size off a list. Magnetic strips run around the whole perimeter, following the arch, and the matching adhesive strip goes onto the frame or the reveal, so the screen sits flush against the shape of the opening instead of boxing it into a rectangle. There is no drilling, no tools and nothing permanent, and it comes away at the end of the season without marking the joinery.

    Full mesh or central separations

This is the option people ask about most, so it is worth explaining plainly. A full mesh panel is one continuous piece with no opening in it: the right choice for a window you look through rather than walk through, because it is the tidiest and there is no seam across the glass.

A central separation adds a magnetic closure down the middle, so the panel becomes two halves that part when you walk through and pull themselves shut behind you. Choose one separation for an arched door or a French door you use daily. Choose two or more on a wide arched opening, where separations also break a very large panel into sections that are easier to handle, fit and take down on your own.

    Measuring an Arched Opening

This is the part that decides whether the screen fits, and an arch needs one more measurement than a rectangle. Take your time here rather than on the colour.

    The three measurements

First the overall width, taken at the widest point. Second the total height, from the sill to the highest point of the curve. Third, and this is the one people forget, the height to the springing line, meaning the point up each side where the straight part stops and the curve begins. Without that third number, two openings with identical width and height can be completely different curves.

    Semicircular, segmental and pointed arches

A semicircular arch has a rise of exactly half the width and no straight section above the springing line. A segmental arch is a shallower curve, common over Victorian sash windows, where the rise is much less than half the width. A pointed or gothic head is two curves meeting at an apex, which is a different shape again. The three measurements above describe all of them, which is why we ask for them rather than for the name of the arch.

When the arch is not regular

Hand built and older arches frequently are not. If the two sides do not match, or the curve is visibly flatter on one side, make a template: tape paper or thin card across the opening, run a pencil around the inside of the frame, and measure from that. It takes fifteen minutes and it is far more reliable than trying to describe an irregular curve in numbers.

    Fitting Without Drilling

The adhesive strip follows the curve, so what it needs is a continuous, flat, clean surface right around the opening, including through the arch itself. Check that before ordering: a deep reveal, a moulded architrave or a render return through the head is worth knowing about in advance. Clean the frame with methylated spirits rather than a household spray that leaves a residue, and avoid fitting in direct sun on a hot afternoon, because warm helps adhesive and hot does not.

Because nothing is screwed into the building, this suits a rented home, an apartment where the windows are common property, and listed or period joinery you are not free to alter. It also means the screen can come down for the winter and go back up next season.

Made to Measure Cannot Come Back

A panel cut to your curve fits nobody else's opening, so it cannot be returned the way a standard size can. That is not a policy quirk, it is what made to measure means, and it is the reason to measure twice and write the numbers down rather than trusting memory between the ladder and the keyboard. If your opening is irregular, set back in a deep reveal, or has a catch or a stay in the way, say so with the order instead of rounding the numbers and hoping.
