Patio fly screens, made to measure

Enjoy the patio in the evening. It is the only time that counts.

"Patio fly screen" does not mean the same thing depending on whether your patio or alfresco area is covered, open, or enclosed as a conservatory. This page points you to the right solution, with the real dimensions and the real options.

The patio problem

The patio is the best room in the house. Two hours a day.

Too hot in the morning, full sun all afternoon. The only genuinely pleasant moment is the evening, exactly the one mosquitoes have picked too. The result: you invest in a beautiful alfresco area and barely use it.

How it works

The solution depends on what you have above your head

It is the only question that matters. If the patio has a structure, we close the sides. If it does not, there is nothing to attach to: we screen the opening between the house and the patio instead. Both work, but they are not the same products.

Covered patio: close the sides

Pergola, awning, gazebo, roof overhang: as soon as there are posts and a beam, we make one mesh panel per side. The patio becomes an enclosed room.

Open patio: screen the opening

Without a structure, there is nothing to fix a fly screen to. So we screen the sliding door or French door: you leave it wide open and nothing gets into the house.

Either way, made to measure

No patio is standard. We manufacture up to 600 cm wide and high, and beyond, with 1 to 5 central splits depending on the walkways.

The most common case

No structure? Close the doorway, not the patio

It is the most common setup, and the cheapest. Rather than trying to enclose an open slab, we screen the sliding or French door. You live outside, and the house stays sealed when you go back in.

  • Leave the door open all evening, and all night if you want.
  • Come and go hands full: the magnets close behind you.
  • A budget in no way comparable to a glazed patio enclosure.

Four setups, four solutions

Identify yours: the right product decides the dimensions and the fitting.

Patio under a pergola

Attached, freestanding or louvred structure: we close the sides, panel by panel.

Patio under a gazebo

Freestanding garden structure, often demountable, in 3×3 or 4×3.

Conservatory or sunroom

Already enclosed with glazing: we screen the windows and the door, not the walls.

Apartment balcony

Upstairs, we screen the French door. Nothing drilled, rental friendly.

The other options

Against glazed enclosures and repellents

To make a patio liveable in the evening, three routes exist. They do not share the same budget, the same effect, or the same reversibility.

Good to know

Your questions about patio fly screens

My patio has no structure at all. Is it possible?

Not in the way you might imagine: a fly screen needs something to attach to at the top and on the sides. On an open slab there is nothing to fix it to. The effective solution is to screen the sliding or French door instead: you enjoy the patio, and the house stays protected. It is also the cheapest option.

On a covered patio, what does it attach to?

To the posts and beam of the structure, with a self-adhesive velcro strip. Aluminium, timber or steel, it does not matter: nothing is drilled and the strip removes without leaving a trace or residue.

What about a conservatory that is already enclosed?

A conservatory is glazed: the walls are not the problem, the openings are. So we screen the windows and the door, with the window and door models, not with large-opening panels.

Does it hold on a windy patio?

The large-opening range has galvanised steel gravity bars along the entire bottom edge, which keep the panel pressed down. On a very exposed site, the whole thing removes in minutes and goes back up just as fast.

And for a pergola specifically?

Same principle as any covered patio: one made-to-measure mesh panel per side, fixed to the posts and beam with adhesive velcro. It works on attached, freestanding and louvred pergolas alike, because the fixing goes on the frame, never on the louvres.

How much does it cost for a 4-metre patio?

On a covered patio, a 400 cm panel is a made-to-measure large-opening format, with central splits depending on how many walkways you want. If you only screen the doorway, a French door is the smaller job. The configurator gives the exact price for your dimensions before you order.
