All the answers to your questions about our made-to-measure fly screens, installation, delivery and more.

Choosing the right model

What is the difference between the door, window and large opening models? +

We offer 3 models, each designed for a specific type of opening:

Window fly screen: a fixed model with solid mesh, magnetic fixing on all 4 sides. Ideal for windows you do not need to walk through. No central opening.

Door fly screen: magnetic opening (centred or offset to your needs) to walk through freely, Velcro fixing on the sides and top. Available in several made-to-measure sizes (M, L, XL) to suit most doors: front door, garden door, French doors.

Large opening fly screen: designed for large widths (patio doors, pergolas, conservatories, sliding doors). Reinforced Velcro fixing and fully customisable magnetic opening: one or more splits, centred or offset positioning to suit your configuration.

👉 If in doubt, contact us with a photo of your opening and we will guide you towards the right model.
Which model should I choose for a patio door or pergola? +

For very large widths (above around 2 metres), we recommend our large opening fly screen. It has been specifically designed for patio doors, pergolas and conservatories, with:

  • Reinforced Velcro fixing suited to large surfaces
  • A fully customisable magnetic opening (positioning, number of splits)
  • Several panels to make walking through easier and ensure good stability

For smaller openings, our door fly screen remains an excellent option, including the larger size (XL).

Do you make fly screens for special shapes (arch, Velux, etc.)? +

Yes, we make fly screens to measure for special shapes: arched, asymmetric, round, Velux, unusual pergola shapes.

To obtain a personalised quote, email us at support@moskera.com with:

  • A photo of your opening
  • The exact measurements (width, height(s))
  • Your preferred colour (black or white)

In the meantime, you can also browse our fly screen collection. We will get back to you within 24 to 48 hours.

What can be customised on a made-to-measure fly screen? +

On made-to-measure orders, almost everything is customisable. Our workshop makes each fly screen to order, which means we can adapt your product to your actual needs, even beyond what is offered in the catalogue. You can customise, for example:

📐 Dimensions and shape
Any made-to-measure dimensions, special shapes (arched, asymmetric, round, Velux, unusual pergolas...).

🎨 Colours
Mesh and frame in different colours if you wish (for example: black mesh with white Velcro/magnets, or vice versa).

🔀 Position of the opening
The magnetic opening does not have to be centred: it can be offset to the left or right depending on your configuration (walkway against a wall, lateral opening, etc.).

⚙️ Fixing system
You can, for example, order a door-style fly screen with central opening fitted to a window, or a window with Velcro fixing instead of magnetic, or any other combination suited to your needs.

🪟 Unusual configurations
Custom splits, non-standard panel distribution, additional accessories...

How to request a customisation?

Two options depending on the complexity of your request:

  1. Simple customisations (opening position, different colours, minor adjustments): indicate your request in the "notes / instructions" field in the basket, just before payment. Our workshop will take your details into account during manufacturing.
  2. More complex customisations (special shape, completely unusual configuration, product outside the catalogue): contact us directly at support@moskera.com with a photo of your opening, your measurements and your specific requirement. We will prepare a personalised quote within 24 to 48 hours.
⚠️ This flexibility only applies to made-to-measure orders. Standard sizes are sold in their predefined configuration.
Which colour to choose: black or white? +

Both colours offer exactly the same mesh quality and the same effectiveness against insects. The choice is purely aesthetic:

Black: more discreet from the inside, offers excellent visibility outwards and lets more light through. It is our most popular colour.

White: blends naturally with white frames (PVC, painted aluminium). More visible from the inside, but remains discreet from the outside.

How many splits / panels should I choose for a large opening? +

Important to know: 1 split = 2 panels, 2 splits = 3 panels, and so on. You freely choose the number of panels to suit your configuration.

Our general guidelines:

  • 1 split (2 panels) already works very well for most large openings
  • 2 splits (3 panels) offer an excellent balance on the widest openings, making walking through easier and stabilising the fabric
  • Beyond that, it remains possible according to your preferences, but does not always bring a significant benefit

The wider your opening, the more useful an extra split can be. If in doubt, contact us with your exact measurements and we will advise you on the most suitable configuration.

Measurements & dimensions

How do I take my measurements correctly? +

Taking measurements is the most important step of your order. At Moskera, we make your fly screen exactly to the dimensions you provide: no margin is automatically added on our side.

There are two ways to proceed:

Option A: You measure the inner opening (the space where the fly screen will be installed)
👉 You need to add the margins yourself:

  • Door: +4 cm in width / +2 cm in height
  • Window: +4 cm in width / +4 cm in height
  • Large opening: depending on your installation configuration (see our complete measuring guide)

Option B: You provide the final dimensions directly (the exact size of the fly screen to be made)
👉 Do not add anything, we will make it exactly to those dimensions.

For detailed diagrams and examples by opening type, see our measuring guide.

Do I need to add centimetres to my measurements? +

It depends on what you are measuring:

  • If you are measuring the inner opening (the passage), yes: add +4 cm in width for a door or window, and +2 cm in height for a door or +4 cm in height for a window. These margins allow the fly screen to cover the frame properly and ensure effective fixing.
  • If you provide the final dimensions you want for your fly screen, do not add anything.
⚠️ Remember: we manufacture exactly to the dimensions provided at the time of the order. We never add a margin on our side.
Is it better to order slightly larger or smaller? +

We always recommend going slightly larger.

A fly screen that is a little larger is easy to adjust during installation: the fabric positions itself without difficulty and the fixing (Velcro + magnets) absorbs a few centimetres of margin perfectly.

Conversely, a fly screen smaller than your opening will be harder to install properly, as it cannot be stretched.

If in doubt between two measurements, always choose the larger one: it is the safest option.

Is there a manufacturing tolerance on the dimensions? +

Our fly screens are handmade with a technical tolerance of ±1 to 2 cm on the final dimensions. This margin is inherent to the made-to-measure handcrafted process and does not constitute a defect.

This tolerance is largely absorbed by the flexibility of the fabric and the fixing (Velcro + magnets), which adapt to your opening.

📏 Good to know: if you provide a dimension with a decimal (for example 164.5 cm), we will automatically round it up to the next whole centimetre (165 cm) to optimise manufacturing.
What happens if I make a mistake with my measurements? +

All our made-to-measure fly screens are manufactured specifically to your dimensions. A measurement error on the customer's part does not entitle you to a refund or exchange, in accordance with our Terms & Conditions and applicable Canadian provincial consumer protection legislation. Please note that there is no universal cooling-off period for online purchases under Canadian law, and goods made to the consumer's specifications are by nature non-returnable.

This is why we strongly recommend:

  • Measuring twice before confirming your order
  • Consulting our complete measuring guide if in doubt
  • Contacting us at support@moskera.com with a photo of your opening if you are unsure
💡 If you spot an error within 24 hours of your order, contact us immediately: production may not have started yet and we can sometimes amend your order.

Installation & fixing

How do I install my fly screen? +

Installing a Moskera fly screen takes around 10 to 15 minutes and requires no tools. Here are the main steps:

  1. Clean thoroughly the area around your opening with rubbing alcohol or a degreaser, then allow it to dry completely.
  2. Apply the adhesive strips (Velcro for doors and large openings, magnetic strip for windows), pressing firmly for 30 seconds per area.
  3. Position the fly screen on the strips, starting from the top and working down the sides.

For a detailed visual guide with photos by opening type, see our complete installation guide.

What surfaces does the fly screen stick to? +

Our fly screens are compatible with most surfaces commonly found in homes:

  • PVC (excellent adhesion)
  • Aluminium, smooth and painted
  • Wood (painted, varnished or untreated)
  • Smooth masonry, plaster, fine render
⚠️ Textured render, rough render, textured aluminium: adhesion remains possible but may require reinforcement (neoprene adhesive or silicone) on very uneven surfaces.

To optimise adhesion, whatever the surface:

  • Clean with rubbing alcohol (never just soapy water)
  • Press firmly for 30 seconds per area
  • Allow the adhesive to settle for 1 to 2 days for maximum adhesion before first use
Do I need to drill to install it? +

No, no drilling is required. All our fly screens are fixed using an adhesive system (Velcro for doors and large openings, magnetic strip for windows). This is one of Moskera's great advantages: quick installation, no tools, no permanent marks, and perfect for rented accommodation.

The adhesive holds for a long time while remaining removable. If you wish to dismantle the fly screen, the strips can be peeled off with a little patience and some heat (hairdryer).

How do I install on a frameless patio door, under a roller shutter or as a recessed installation? +

Several installation configurations are possible depending on your opening:

Recessed installation (inset): the fly screen is fixed on the inner depth of the frame (top, bottom, sides). Ideal for recessed patio doors.

Flush installation (face): the fly screen is fixed directly on the wall or joinery around the opening. The most common solution.

Installation under a roller shutter box: the Velcro sticks directly under the shutter box (aluminium or PVC). Make sure the surface is smooth and well cleaned.

Ceiling installation: for pergolas or conservatories without an upper frame, the Velcro strip is fixed directly to the ceiling, beam or structure.

For unusual configurations, feel free to send us a photo of your opening at support@moskera.com: we will recommend the best installation method.

What is the difference between Velcro and magnetic fixing? +

Our models use two fixing systems, adapted to their use:

Magnetic fixing (4 sides): used on window fly screens. The magnetic strip (2 cm) is stuck around the window perimeter, and the fly screen attaches directly to all 4 sides. No central opening: the fly screen remains fixed.

Velcro fixing + magnetic opening: used on door fly screens and large opening fly screens. The Velcro (4 cm) holds the fly screen on the sides and at the top, while magnets (4 cm for the door, 15 cm for the large opening) ensure automatic closing in the middle. You can walk through freely and the fly screen closes by itself behind you.

What should I do if the Velcro or magnetic strip is not sticking properly? +

If the adhesive does not hold properly, it is almost always linked to the surface preparation. Here are the points to check:

  1. Was the surface clean and dry? Any trace of dust, grease, moisture or silicone prevents adhesion. Clean with rubbing alcohol and allow to dry completely.
  2. Did you apply firm pressure? Count 30 seconds per area, pressing firmly.
  3. Did you allow the adhesive to settle for 1 to 2 days before first use? Tensioning too early can detach the strips.
  4. Is your surface rough or textured (textured render, structured aluminium)? In this case, reinforcement with a little neoprene adhesive or transparent silicone may be recommended.

If despite these checks the adhesive still does not hold, contact us at support@moskera.com with a photo of your surface: we will offer a suitable solution.

💡 Good to know: we also offer spare parts (replacement Velcro, magnetic strip, accessories) directly on our website, should you wish to reinforce or replace a worn fixing.

Product & use

How does a magnetic fly screen work? +

A magnetic fly screen works thanks to a system combining fine fibreglass mesh (which blocks insects while letting air and light through) and an automatic magnetic closure.

Depending on the model:

  • Window model: the fly screen is held entirely by a 2 cm magnetic strip on all 4 sides. It stays fixed and permanently blocks insects.
  • Door and large opening models: the fly screen is held by Velcro on the sides and at the top, with a line of magnets in the centre that opens as you walk through and closes automatically behind you.

The result: effective protection against mosquitoes, flies, wasps and other flying insects, without obstructing your passage or ventilation.

Do the magnets close automatically? +

Yes, closing is fully automatic. As soon as you let go of the fly screen after walking through, the magnets reconnect and the fly screen closes by itself within a few seconds.

To optimise this automatic closing:

  • Allow the fabric to settle for 24 to 48 hours after installation (transport creases may slightly hinder alignment at first)
  • Check that the fly screen is not too tightly stretched: an over-stretched fabric prevents the magnets from meeting
  • On large opening models, the weighted rods built into the bottom of each panel help the closing thanks to their weight
The mesh has creases on arrival, is this normal? +

Yes, this is perfectly normal. To optimise packaging and delivery, our fly screens are folded before shipping. The creases and marks visible when opening the parcel disappear naturally after installation, usually within 24 to 48 hours.

If some creases persist, you can:

  • Leave the fly screen installed and tensioned for a few days
  • Gently smooth the fabric by hand
  • For very deep creases, use an iron on a low setting, with a cloth between the iron and the fabric
⚠️ Never iron directly on the Velcro strips, the magnets or the magnetic strip.
Is the fly screen resistant to wind and weather? +

Our fly screens are designed for prolonged outdoor use and withstand usual weather conditions:

  • Moderate to strong wind: the Velcro/magnetic fixing holds well, and the weighted rods (on large opening models) limit fabric movement.
  • Rain: the fibreglass fabric is water-resistant and dries quickly.
  • UV and heat: the mesh is UV-treated to withstand prolonged sun exposure.
⚠️ In case of very strong wind or storm, we recommend temporarily removing the fly screen to preserve both the fabric and the adhesive. The fly screen can be reattached in a few seconds once conditions return to normal.
Is the fly screen suitable for pets? +

Our fly screens are designed to coexist with pets: the fibreglass fabric is sturdy, and the magnetic opening allows animals to pass through freely (with a short adjustment period for the first few passages).

In practice:

  • 🐕 Dogs: most dogs quickly learn to push the fly screen with their head or nose. Passage is smooth.
  • 🐈 Cats: most use the opening without difficulty, but some cats may try to scratch the fabric, especially at first. A period of adaptation is usually enough.
⚠️ Please note: our fly screens are sturdy but not indestructible. A very playful or particularly energetic animal could potentially damage the mesh with repeated scratching.
How do I clean and maintain my fly screen? +

Maintenance is very simple and only requires a few minutes from time to time:

Regular cleaning (1 to 2 times per season):

  1. Gently detach the fly screen from its adhesive strips
  2. Clean with warm soapy water (mild soap or washing-up liquid) using a cloth or non-abrasive sponge
  3. Rinse with clean water and let it air dry, flat or hung up
  4. Reposition the fly screen on the Velcro/magnetic strips

To avoid:

  • Washing in a machine (risk of damaging the magnets and Velcro)
  • Harsh products (bleach, solvents, acetone)
  • Tumble dryer or direct heat source
  • Vigorous brushing (risk of damaging the mesh)
💡 Good to know: regular cleaning significantly extends the life of your fly screen and preserves the quality of the mesh.
Can I remove and store my fly screen in winter? +

Yes, your Moskera fly screens are designed to be taken down and reinstalled every season:

To remove:

  1. Gently detach the fly screen from the Velcro strips or magnetic strip
  2. The adhesive strips can stay in place on the frame all year round without damage, or be removed if you prefer
  3. Fold or roll up the fly screen, avoiding folding over the magnets

For storage:

  • Store the fly screen clean, dry and sheltered (cupboard, temperate garage)
  • Avoid very humid places or places exposed to heat

To reinstall in spring: if the adhesive strips are still in place, simply reposition the fly screen. If not, reapply the strips following the installation steps (see question "How do I install my fly screen?").

My order is being processed / my tracking is not moving, is this normal? +

Yes, in some cases this is perfectly normal:

If you have ordered a made-to-measure product: your fly screen is being manufactured. The "processing" status can last up to 7 working days before dispatch. You will receive an email with the tracking number as soon as the parcel is sent.

If the tracking does not update after dispatch: it is common for tracking to take 24 to 72 hours to show the first updates, particularly after a weekend or statutory holiday. This is due to the carrier's handover time, not an actual delay.

Is the tracking stuck for several days after dispatch? Contact us at support@moskera.com with your order number, and we will check with the carrier immediately.

Can I modify or cancel my order after payment? +

It depends on the type of order and the timing:

Made-to-measure orders:

  • Changes possible within 24 hours of your order, before manufacturing begins
  • After that, manufacturing has started and the order can no longer be amended or cancelled

Standard size orders:

  • Changes possible before dispatch (usually within 24 hours)
  • After that, the parcel is in transit and can no longer be amended

To amend an order, contact us as soon as possible at support@moskera.com with:

  • Your order number
  • The change requested (dimensions, colour, delivery address...)
⚠️ Once manufacturing has started or the parcel has been dispatched, no changes or cancellations are possible. This is why we recommend checking your order carefully before confirming payment.

Returns & warranty

Can I return or exchange my fly screen? +

Return conditions depend on the type of product ordered:

Fly screens in standard sizes
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee. If your fly screen is not right for you, you can return it within 30 days of receipt. The product must be returned in its original packaging, unused and in perfect condition. Return shipping costs are at your expense.

Made-to-measure fly screens
In accordance with our Terms & Conditions and applicable Canadian provincial consumer protection legislation, goods made to the customer's specifications (dimensions, shapes, customised splits, etc.) are not eligible for change-of-mind returns, exchanges or refunds. There is no universal cooling-off period for online purchases under Canadian law; this rule applies a fortiori to made-to-order products.

This rule is inherent to made-to-measure production: your fly screen is manufactured specifically to your dimensions and cannot be resold. This is why we place such emphasis on accurate measuring beforehand (see our measuring guide).
